The SOMA Foundation is the philanthropic entity of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) and was founded to provide financial support to the endeavors of SOMA. As you may already know, SOMA is the principal osteopathic professional organization that represents thousands of osteopathic students at medical schools across the United States. The main focus of this non-profit organization is to educate society, to preserve the posterity of osteopathic medicine, and to improve health care in the United States and worldwide.
Through the efforts of the Foundation, SOMA has implemented valuable outreach programs related to osteopathic principles and practice, rural medicine, international health, preventive medicine, osteopathic research, and other community-centered activities. In addition, the SOMA Foundation is able to provide grants for local outreach in the communities of osteopathic colleges throughout the country. The Foundation also awards scholarships on an annual basis to worthy osteopathic students to help defray the increasing costs of medical education.
SOMA functions solely on the support of corporations, medical associations and institutions, and individual sponsors who comprise the membership of the SOMA Foundation. Additionally, the advice and guidance of the Foundation members is extremely beneficial to the direction of SOMA. Membership in the SOMA Foundation positively impacts osteopathic students, the future of the profession.
If you have any questions or require additional information on SOMA or the SOMA Foundation, please do not hesitate to contact our organization.
Sincerely,
Collin Lovitt
