Ryan Dyches, OMS IV, Midwestern University AZCOM
A few words from Student Doctor Ryan Dyches on receiving the Leadership in Specialty Medicine Scholarship:

"Thank you for your generous sponsorship of the SOMA Leadership in Specialty Medicine
Scholarship. I am humbled and honored to be recognized with this award. I am particularly
grateful for your support of this scholarship as I believe it illustrates a particular aspect of the
osteopathic profession- namely, that osteopathic manipulative medicine is not simply
manipulative treatment. It is our recognition that each person is a unit of body, mind, and spirit.
It is our conscious partnership with the human body that is capable of self-regulation, self-
healing, and health maintenance. It is the simple but powerful truth that structure and function
are reciprocally interrelated. These tenets guide our very practice of medicine regardless of area
of expertise. Your support aids in the spread of the osteopathic philosophy by students pursuing
all types of specialties. Thank you for this honor."

Neil K. Jain, OMS IV, Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine
A few words from Student Doctor Neil Jain on receiving the Leadership in Specialty Medicine Scholarship:

"My journey as a medical student is rapidly approaching term. These four years have
been one of the best educational and professional development experiences of my life. As an
incoming medical student in July 2016, I knew that I needed strong mentors and unwavering
support to succeed. Through SOMA, I had received that. You invested in my adventure as a
medical student and continue to do so as my journey ventures on as a resident physician. I
cannot thank you enough for selecting me for the prestigious “SOMA Leadership in Specialty
Medicine Scholarship.” This July, I will be starting my surgical internship year at Medstar
Georgetown University Hospital, where I will also complete my interventional and diagnostic
radiology training. I am incredibly humbled and grateful for your support. Thank you once again
for this award."
